Symposium on “Doha Trade and Environment Negotiation: China’s Challenge and Opportunity” was held in Beijing from July 2 to 3, 2004. It was jointly sponsored by Ministry of Commerce, CCICED, WTO and TFWE. About 60 people from Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Water Resource, Ministry of Agriculture, State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, SEPA as well as experts from colleges and scientific research institutions in Beijing attended this symposium. The participants held an ardent discussion on issues such as WTO rules and sustainable development, influence of WTO entry rules on China’s environmental protection industries and the relation between TRIPs and CBD.
